BRAINnovations

Your brain is kinda important! And as we age, our brain function can change. Our Country Meadows Village community is excited to offer a Brain Health program that will feature amazing speakers and offer strategies to improve cognitive capabilities.

Our Brain Health Program will start with a three-series program led by renowned brain-health expert Cathy Parkinson, CQSW, Dip Counseling. Originally from England, Parkinson began her career specializing in dementia care after being introduced to Professor Graham Stokes how taught her his innovative approach to caring for people with dementia.

Parkinson is a Master Trainer in the inventive “Best Friends Approach to Alzheimer’s Care.” A Behavior Specialist for the State of Oregon and Brain Wellness Instructor, Parkinson has extensive knowledge and experience of comprehensive tactics to help provide knowledge and understanding of how to grow your brain young.

We kicked off on June 17, with Parkinson leading a 3 part introduction to the Brainnovations series. These first classes were all about the science that goes into the Mind Matters Monday part of the Brainnovations program. But don’t worry if you missed it, Kathy will be returning every 6 to 8 weeks to keep us on track.

In between Kathy’s classes, we will continue our program with other guest speakers the first and third Monday of the month with specialized informative talks over a great range of topics. Learn about how your brain reacts to over-the-counter medications or does organic food make a difference with your brain? Or learn something new like the science of volcanoes and help untangle those neural pathways.

All classes will come with homework and for every completed homework assignment guests will be eligible to win a Brain Basket raffle filled with brain healthy prizes. So, attend class with us, grow your brain young, and get rewarded for it.
