Come to the Speakeasy!
On Friday, Jan. 31, from 4-6 p.m. Country Meadows Village will be transformed into a glamorous speakeasy to celebrate a bygone era. Bootleggers, gangsters, flappers and the public are all welcome to our free event: a night of revelry with door prizes, live entertainment, drinks, dancing, dessert bar and more.
The 1920s were an era of optimism, art deco, decadence and temperance. Speakeasies (secret establishments that sold alcohol during Prohibition) popped up across the country and made many bootleggers wealthy by selling illegal alcohol and providing a space for live music and dancing.
Gals: channel your inner Marlene Dietrich and Greta Garbo by wearing your pearls or Cloche hat. Uncover your ankles and sip on a libation while enjoying vintage gypsy jazz from David Lawrence, leader of Lapompe. Lawrence will play swing jazz and blues favorites throughout the event.
Guys: dust off your fedora and press your zoot suit and join your fellas for a night to make even Jay Gatsby jealous. All the “It Girls” will be onsite ready to enjoy a night of history and entertainment. The giggle water will be flowing and it will be a roaring good time!
It will be a foot-tapping good time to let the flounce in your dress match the happiness in your heart. Call 503-982-2221 for the secret password for admission to this one-time event at Country Meadows Village, 155 S. Evergreen Rd. Woodburn. Hope to see you there!Leave a reply
